John "richard" Preston, Jr

President-CEO 

Richard began working in the family business in high school as time off from school would allow.  He had great mentors, including his father, Dick Preston,  to teach him the construction trade hands on.  It was through his father that he was able to learn many invaluable skills to run a successful company, including business management, work ethic, and integrity.  Richard was able to apprentice under key employees  through the years as he learned carpentry, concrete, masonry, and operating machinery.  

Richard acquired a professional degree in Architecture from the University of Tennessee.  He also studied Architecture under world famous architect Coleman Coker at Coker’s Building Studio in Memphis, TN.  Richard was appointed as President and CEO after the death of his father in 2001.  Since that time the company has experienced continued steady growth. Richard was awarded the Business Journal's "40 under Forty" award in October 2016, for his achievements.

Richard is married to Holly Preston, and they have five children - John, Anna, Sophia, Amelia and Cole. He attends Red Stone Church in Johnson City, TN. 

 

Claudia Preston McCord

Vice President-cfo 

Claudia is a graduate of East Tennessee State University and has been with the company since 1974.  Bookkeeping and personnel have been her responsibility since that time.  Upon incorporation in 1988, she was instrumental in bringing the company into the computer age.  In 2001, upon the death of founder and husband Dick Preston, she, along with son Richard continued the business.  Today Claudia is the CFO.

Claudia is married to Michael McCord and has three children, two stepchildren and twelve grandchildren.  She is a member of First Presbyterian Church in Johnson City and has volunteered in the past with Habitat for Humanity, Appalachian Service Project, Coalition for Kids, Family Promise, PTA, and spent many years teaching children in public school and in church.

She enjoys spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren, traveling, cooking, and ballroom dancing.

 

Juston Nunnery

Project Manager/Estimator

Juston has been with Preston Construction since 2008.  He obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree  in Construction Engineering Technology, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, and a minor in Business from East Tennessee State University.  

Some notable projects that he has managed include the Roan Mountain Sate Park Renovations,  ETSU Memorial Center Football Locker Rooms, Unicoi County Pinnacle Trail Pavilion, and the Erwin Utilities WWTP Operations Building.
  
Juston is married to Amber and they have two children - Kennedy and Avery.  They attend church at Elizabethton Church of Christ, where Juston is involved in the men’s ministry and youth group.  He is also active in HRBC.  In his free time, Juston enjoys fly fishing, hunting, and outdoor activities


Rodney Conduff

Project Manager

Rodney attended ETSU. He began his career with Gardner Paint Services and spent many years there. He was Vice President of Operations. Rodney is enjoying his new journey as a Project Manager with Preston Construction Co.

Outside of work, Rodney loves to walk, attend outdoor music events, and spends as much time as possible with his wife, Margaret, their dog, George and his cat JoJo.  He also enjoys spending time with his two grown sons, and two grandsons ages 13 & 10. He has always been involved with community outreach activities. He has been the president of Johnson City Jaycee’s, and served on the board with Dawn of Hope for many years. Most of his childhood was spent oversees. His father served in the military. The family then settled down in Greeneville, TN and he currently lives in Johnson City, TN.


CINDY CARDEN

OFFICE Manager

Cindy Carden joined our team in February 2016 as our Office Manager.  We are excited to have her knowledge and experience.  She previously worked for CenturyLink managing the retail stores in TN and Southwest VA.  Cindy is currently serving as co-chair for the Youth Leadership for the Johnson City Chamber, and is on the Finance Committee at Boone Trail Baptist Church.  She has graduated from both Johnson City Chamber and Greene County Chamber Leadership programs.  Cindy has been nominated for the YWCA Tribute to Women award in 2012 and 2013 for community service and leadership.  In addition to the roles listed, she is involved in her community by way of her church, Boone Trail Baptist, by teaching 5th & 6th grade Sunday School. She currently serves on the Phillips Family Compassionate Hope Foundation Steering Team along with her husband.  She has previously worked with Summit Leadership with their Marketing and Development Committee, served as President of Santa's Helpers for 15 years, served as co-chair for the Johnson City Chamber Leadership for 3 years and served on the Unicoi County Chamber Board as Secretary. 

Cindy is married to Chuck for 33 years and they have three children.  In her free time, Cindy loves to travel, spend time with her family and read.
